Understanding Article Writing – What Does It Mean to Strive for Quantity?

[ad_1]

Writing is not something you can learn in a day. But, once you’ve learnt how to write and write effectively, it stays with you for the rest of your life. Maintaining a consistent level of quality while writing either extremely fast or working on a large assignment at the last moment can be extremely taxing. This is why quality management becomes a huge area to concentrate on. Most of us become embarrassed when we make silly typing errors, but we scarcely look into the causes behind these kind of errors. Overdependence on an automatic spell check could be a major cause. Some people use the auto correct so often that they fail to realize just how poor their spellings are. While we all agree that an auto-correction software is an invaluable tool for anyone who has a sizable typing workload, we must also realize that the software does not understand the context of the sentence and may not always change what you typed to the word you were trying to type.

Proofreading is also an important key to making sure your work has no mistakes. Just scanning the lines you have written at a glance would show any glaring mistakes you might have made. This whole process does not take more than a few minutes but can save you tons of time not having to redo work because of spelling and grammatical errors. You will also have to check for coherence in your sentences and paragraphs. Coherence involves the logical progression of one thought into another. So, the next time you let a random thought slip in to the middle of one of your paragraphs beware! Your article will read like it is written by some scatterbrained moron. Coherence can increase the amount of information readers gather from your article and also helps them understand what you are trying to say slightly better.

Grammatical mistakes, especially the ones regarding sentence structure are unforgivable. You will have to read your article the same way a proofreader or an editor would read it. You have to look for sentences that sound funny and see how best you can change them. Avoid run on sentences and sentences with a complicated structure. These are the breeding grounds for unwarranted grammatical errors to occur. Double check your ‘it’s and its’ to see if they are all in order. Most writers make blunders in the silliest of places. A little care can go a long way to making your work more efficient and of better quality.

Last but not least, make sure that there is some emotion in what you are writing. Offer your own opinions and your own thoughts. Most people say that the best writers often tell more about themselves in their work, than their characters. Make sure that you let your personality, your thoughts about the world and your ideas shine through your work. It does not matter if you are writing fiction or non-fiction, you are writing something that people will read, so make sure that you put enough of yourself into everything you write!
